The Hitchhiker’s Star pattern uses 42 squares and some background fabric to make a variety of half-square triangles (HSTs) and quarter-square triangles (QSTs) that are set, medallion style, into a quilt top.
You can make it from any sized squares, including precut 5” and 10” packs, or you can choose favourites from your fabric stash. The background can be scrappy or cut from one fabric.
